Dear Alumni and Friends,

Happy May! Life at DePauw is as busy as it can be with students finalizing projects and submitting assignments before they shift their focus to the looming final exams ahead. As a senior, pursuing a double major in Economics and Political Science, I have had my hands full. However, this has been a period of reflection for me. As I near the end of my time here at DePauw, I am constantly reminded of the outstanding experience I have had in and out of our classrooms.

I have been fortunate to have served in numerous roles during my four years at DePauw that complemented my academic pursuits. My tenure as a Defensive Lineman for DePauw Football, President of DePauw Student Government, and member of Phi Kappa Psi (to name a few) have afforded me the opportunity to remain connected with every aspect of our campus and prepare me to change the world following my graduation this month. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue my involvement having been elected by my classmates to serve on the
Board of Trustees.

However, my experience would not be as fulfilling as it was without the presence of our engaged and passionate alumni. Through my time on campus, I have been extremely fortunate to have connected with hundreds of individuals who share the same love and passion that I hold for DePauw. They have helped me to learn and grow as a leader preparing to embrace the challenges of life after graduation. I know that as I leave this campus, I have our alumni to support and be supported by. Our alumni are a significant reason as to why DePauw is so successful. Thank you for your passion and commitment to shaping the educational experience for thousands of students that walk on our campus. You are collectively the embodiment of the Gold Within philosophy that is pervasive throughout the university.

I look forward to joining the ranks of alumni, remaining engaged and sharing resoures with current and incoming students. I have no doubt that DePauw will thrive long into the future. If my time here has taught me one thing, it is that DePauw Never Quits!

Sincerely,

J.D. O'Keane '23
